The first thing to know about the Blue Ridge Parkway is that it isn’t designed for speed.

With 250 pull-outs and 800 or so spots to drink in wow-inducing vistas — not to mention a speed limit that maxes out at 45 mph — this 469-mile roadway is meant to be savored.
