Below is a recent interview with Norman & Sarah Ball, the owners of the Blue Mountain Mist Bed & Breakfast.  Located on a 60-acre farm in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains it features a beautiful Victorian-style farmhouse and wonderful views of the mountains. To learn more you can visit their site here:  http://www.bluemountainmist.com

TheGreatSmokies.net: Where is the Blue Mountain Mist Located Exactly?
Blue Mountain Mist: We are located slightly off the beaten path close to Dollywood. Only 1.5 miles off Veteran’s Blvd. We set on top of a hill with rolling foothills, Shields Mtn. and the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance.

TGS: Can you give everyone a brief background about yourselves and the Blue Mountain Mist?
BMM: We are former educators. We built the Inn in 1987 and currently celebrating 25 years of hosting many wonderful guests. Blue Mountain Mist is located on my family’s farm. My husband and I both are natives of this area. Our ancestors settled here many many years ago. We love the history of the area and are happy to share this with our guests.

TGS: What makes the BMM unique among other Inns and lodging establishments near the Smoky Mountains?
BMM: The Inn is built to resemble an elegant Victorian farmhouse with a big wrap around front porch with rocking chairs. From antiques and reproductions to lace table cloths and fresh flowers from the garden our Inn has a very relaxing homey feel to it. With 10,000 sq. ft. in the Inn and 60 acres to roam, if they wish, 5 cottages and a 3 bedroom guest house they feel like they are really in the country yet very close to all the attractions.

TGS: What’s been the most rewarding thing about owning the BMM? The biggest reward in owning this B&B has been the many wonderful people we have met through the years. So many great blue mountain mist Christian people who have blessed us tremendously. Also being able to share this facility with family and friends has meant a lot. Weddings, receptions, baby showers, birthday parties, family reunions, etc.
BMM: I noticed you all have named most of your rooms after different locations and attractions in the Smokies such as Rainbow Falls, Leconte Suite, etc….What are some your favorite places to visit and things to do in the Smoky Mountains? We love the mountains. I grew up hiking, camping, picnicking and playing in the rivers in the park. My Dad grew up in Big Greenbrier before the National Park was established and we have always enjoyed that area for picnics, hiking and decoration day or reunion for families connected to Greenbrier. Mt. LeConte is very special and beautiful. You feel like you are on top of the world. Elkmont , Cades Cove and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail are also favorites, we enjoy it all.

TGS: Do you all have any upcoming specials in 2013 that you’d like to tell everyone about? Would you be able to link to our daily deals?
BMM: Here is a link to our Specials & Packages

TGS: What would you like to say to potential guests who have never stayed at the BMM and why they should consider staying with you when visiting the Smoky Mountains?
BMM: We offer a very laidback relaxing atmosphere complete with hammocks, rocking chairs, several sitting areas inside and out along with a nature prayer trail, and water features. Refreshments are available throughout the day with homemade desserts each evening. Luxury amenities are provided in each room including individual heat and air control and all private baths. Accommodation choices include a romantic cottage for two featuring a large bedside jacuzzi, fireplace, kitchenette, full bath, back porch with swing and rockers. If in a cottage a full breakfast can be delivered to your door each morning to enjoy in private. If you are an early riser enjoy your cup of coffee on the big front porch while watching the sun peak over the mountain and mist hovering in the valleys. Come, rest and relax your body while renewing and refreshing your spirit in the quietness of nature and beauty.
