Restoration of Alum Cave Trail Begins Today

Alum Cave Trail to Undergo Major Restoration in 2015

Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials announced that the next full-scale, Trails Forever restoration will begin on Alum Cave Trail in 2015. The Trails Forever crew will focus restoration efforts on several targeted locations along the 5-mile trail to improve visitor safety and stabilize eroding trail sections. Rescue Effort Saves Hiker Who Fell From Alum Cave Trail

Park rangers at Great Smoky Mountains National Park rescued a 55-year-old man who slipped and fell while hiking on the Alum Cave Trail on Saturday afternoon. The yet to be identified victim was with a group of four other hikers when he fell about 10 feet and then continued to plummet another 60 feet down
